"It's a spotlight on the arrogance of this movement and its leaders, a spotlight on the choking intolerance of academia, and a spotlight on the ignorance of so many who say so much, yet know so very little."
Brent Bozell III, on Ben Stein’s new movie
Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed
Changing the word "academia" in the above quote to "religion" would apply to the creationists themselves. If the evolutionists know so little, then the creationists know even less, for the very simple reason that the evolutionists question dogma and analyze science and the creationists accept dogma and dismiss science. A fifth grader knows as much as any creationist, but knows only a fraction of what an evolutionary scientist knows. Most creationists seem to think that they are qualified to debate evolution when they are no more qualified than a school boy. It doesn't stop their arrogance from showing, however, as they sit haughtily on their cardboard thrones reciting bible passages and condemning non-believers.
Chuck writes:
"Here's Metthew 4:8:
'Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them.'
So where's the flat earth in Matthew 4:8?"
Isn't it obvious, Chuck? No matter how high the mountain, you can not see ALL the kingdoms of the world, for the world is round. Only if it were flat could one see ALL the kingdoms from a high mountain.
JayPeriod writes:
"The proof in Intelligent Design is in the design factor. Things such as the eye or the digestive system point to some sort of design, not random mutations. Each is too complex to have evolved. There are too many components that must work precisely as they are, or they would not work at all. Evolution fails to fulfill that, as small steps would not have survived the process.
Therefore, the only logical option is that they were designed to be just as they are."
JayPeriod, you need to study a little bit more. The eye argument is a false one. There are examples in the animal kingdom of rudimentary eyes. For example, the flatworm has an eye that is arguably less than half of a human eye, allowing only the detection of light and shade. The primitive nautilus eye functions much like a pinhole camera, but is an evolutionary step up from the flatworm eye. If you wish to read more about the evolution of the eye check out
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution_of_the_eye. Stating that "the only logical option is that they were designed" because you do not understand the evolutionary process is not logical at all.
